David gathered all the Israelites to bring up the ark of God, the Lord of Hosts, who dwells between the cherubim, and where His name is proclaimed, to Kirjath-Jarim in Judea.
So they carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab; and Uzzah and Ahio drove the new cart.
Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tamburines, on cymbals and with trumpets.
And when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled”(1 Chronicles 13:6-9).
Imagine how powerful preparations were made for this event! This was done on a high level, with the involvement of a new cart, expensive and high-quality worship, and all this was accompanied by passionate, exalted worship. They expressed themselves with all their might, demonstrating their love for the Lord.
“God simply can’t be so cruel as not to bless such a gift!” Such dedication, such diligence….
But the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah’s hand reached out to hold it. Human hand will certainly manifest to support Human principle. Everything there was human. There had to be human help that could help human imperfection. Certainly, “cadaveric poison”, “sweat” will seep out. This “sweaty” ministry, “girded in sweat,” passionate, zealous, costly ministry that God struck!
Murder. How can it be?! Who is to be judged for this? – God. So they crucified Christ … Because Jesus carried the same dimension. “For even Christ did not please Himself, but, as it is written, the reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me” (Romans 15:3). Such cases are multiple – when God does not act like man.
God not only gives a slap to the insolent Uzzah – He kills him.
David “took the ark aside into the house of Obed-Edom.” He did not take it to his place. He had to dissolve all Israel and leave himself. The ark remained in the house of Obed-Edom for three months. The ark is in the house! Obed-Edom was a real Israeli, a real worshiper. And what happened is that the Lord “blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had.” Everything blossomed and bloomed, diseases were healed, the fruitless began to give birth … That is exactly what happened! God’s ark decided to “smile” at this house.
David fled, he was in fear. God slapped him on his face. “Now it was told King David saying,“ The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had because of the ark of God”. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness” (II Kings 6:12)… It became obvious to everyone that the house of Obed-Edom was blessed.
Human activity and God’s will. Some of us are struggling with our destiny. And life is so much broken and destroyed. Self-development brought destruction.
I wish you that the will of God may be in your homes, that the Ark may dwell with you. Then God will bless you. Don’t “pump” your Instagram, but have the fear of God to choose the Ark instead of the world.
